In this edition of Sessler's Soapbox, Adam goes after all those people who seem to think that in order to be a critic, you have to hate everything.Adam's viewpoint is shared by all of us here at Pink Werewolf, and not just for video games either.
For me, my dislike of overwhelmingly negative reviews began because of ONE movie review segment that occurred on my local radio station. This "review" changed the way I listened to any critique.
Here's How...
The critic:
1. called the Powerpuff Girls (The Powerpuff Girls Movie) the PowDerpuff Girls.
If you are reviewing a movie, the FIRST thing you should freaking do is LEARN THE TITLE OF THE FREAKIN' MOVIE!!
2. "reviewed" a movie, and concluded the piece with the words, "at least that's what I heard."
Okaaay. Does that mean you didn't actually SEE the movie? How the hell are you supposed to review a movie based on what you've "heard"?!
But most importantly...
3. decided that The Powerpuff Girls Movie was juvenile and silly.
Really?
You found a movie about 3 kindergarten girls with superpowers battling a chimp with plans for world domination NOT Oscar worthy?
Go figure.
Critics who ladle on the ire do not promote or revel anything about a movie. What they DO reveal are their own issues and neuroses.
And so, as the sun sets on Townsville, THIS entertainment lover recommends you listen to and appreciate the words of wisdom from Mr. Adam Sessler:
LIGHTEN UP!
